Introduction

This is a rapidly expanding area in HPC, including such diverse topics as biomolecular modelling, structural genomics, genetic analysis, fungal growth and epidemiological modelling. At present there are relatively few researchers in these areas. Some of the work described below is from short term Class 3 projects, the success of which is likely to result in full Class 1 proposals for large scale projects.
