CSAR Bulletin issued in February 2002

Helpdesk Upgrades

The ARS software, which is used by the automated helpdesk logging system and the CSAR registration, will be upgraded on Tuesday 26th February 2002. Additional work will also be performed on Tuesday 5th March.

The first stage should result in a performance improvement with the ARS software and may also improve the response within the registration system.

The second stage will help CSAR staff to search the query database but there should not be any noticeable effect to CSAR users.

On both of these days while the work is in progress, emails sent to csar-advice@cfs.ac.uk will still be received by the helpdesk staff and your query will be dealt with in the usual manner but you will not receive an automated acknowledgment until the system is operational again. The helpdesk staff will instead send you an email to acknowledge that you have sent a query to csar-advice.

Please Note: The registration system will be unavailable during these times. All PI tasks such as re-setting passwords, changing quotas, trading and self-registration for new users will not be available while the work is in progress.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to your work.

Postal Addresses: New Database

We are currently creating a new database of postal addresses for all CSAR users to ensure that publications such as our newsletter CSAR Focus can be distributed effectively.

If you wish to be included on our new database, please email csar-advice@cfs.ac.uk with details of your full postal address, including your room number/department within your institution and the postcode.

If you are a group of users in the same department then please let us know so that we can send publications to one named person.

Please note that even if you have received CSAR Focus in the past, the new database will not have an entry for you.
