Globus Grid Middleware

Globus Grid middleware (http://www.globus.org) is currently installed on wren (Globus Toolkit 2.2.3), fermat (Globus Toolkit 2.0) and green (Globus Toolkit 2.0). By February 1st green and fermat will be upgraded to Globus Toolkit 2.2.3, any users who wish to access the machines using Globus should upgrade their middleware to Globus Toolkit 2.2.3 to be able to use the full range of Globus services.

MIPSpro 7.4 Compilers

MIPSpro 7.4 compilers should be available within the next two weeks on wren. These include Fortran, OpenMP 2.0 support including the WORKSHARE directive for parallel array operations and C/C++ support for the C99 ISO/IEC standards.

Withdrawal of fermat interactive use

Users are reminded that wren is now the interactive CSAR Origin system. Interactive access to fermat will be withdrawn on Tuesday 4th March. Over the next few weeks the interactive limits on fermat will be gradually reduced. Please note that fermat will of course remain available for batch use.

Web-based Usage Reports

The web-based Usage Reports have been updated to include wren cpu time and the different types of SAN disk available.
