CSAR Application Form Guidance Notes

The following notes are intended to supplement the information available on the application form and to point to more detailed information on the web about particular aspects of the CSAR service. All of the notes below relate to Part A. Part B is for completion by CSAR. Please contact the CSAR helpdesk if you require any further assistance completing your application.

Questions 1 - 5

1. Please tick the box which corresponds to the Research Council you are affiliated with.

4. To work out which class of project to apply for please read the notes at the foot of page 1 or the explanations on the Applying for CSAR Resources webpage
5. These questions relate to joining another project group that already exists on CSAR

Question 6 - Project Resources

Sub question 6.1

• Application forms cannot be processed without a completed Resource Calculator form. The calculator will provide current exchange rates and notional costs. Due to the nature of the various resources the exchange rates may change.
• Detailed information about the resource types (Resource Tokens) can be found under the resources menu
.
• Please make as accurate an estimate as possible of your resource requirement, as subsequent adjustments will be constrained by the total number of generic tokens awarded, and by overall resource availability. Within 3 months of your grant announcement you will be required to refine the profiling of your requested resources via the web based "capacity planning" form.

Sub question 6.2

Start Date - Note that a Class One project can take up to 6 months to go through the review process. Allow 4 - 6 weeks processing for Class 2 and 3.
